About Us

The International Plastic Modeler’s Society Israel is a registered association that has been active since 1987. With over 200 members in Israel and worldwide, its’ purpose is to promote model building in Israel, provide a platform for model building activities and improve communications between like-minded model builders.  The non-profit association is managed by volunteer members, who administer and organize events throughout the year.  A yearly membership fee is charged to cover the cost of running the association, including the organization of shows and production of the bi-annual magazine.

Main club activities:

1. Large model shows (some of which include model competitions) generally three times a year. Displaying models at these events is open only to club members, although we sometimes allow model builders who are not members to display models under various restrictions and subject to a one-time fee. In the exhibitions we often also combine tours (for example in Air Force bases / squadrons) and interesting lectures in various fields.

2. Production of "Scale" magazine twice a year. This is the only model magazine in Hebrew and is among the top quality model magazines in the world. Each magazine includes about 40 pages (some of them in color) and a selection of articles intended for a variety of modeler’s areas of interest. The "Scale" magazine does not have a permanent writing staff as the articles are written and submitted voluntarily by club members.

3. Monthly meetings of about two hours, in the library of the "Noam" school in Petah Tikva - once a month in the evening (usually from 18:00 to 20:00). The purpose of the meetings is to "keep the embers burning" and to maintain regular contact between club members and model builders. In the meetings you can see models in various stages of construction, as well as swapmeet and sale of  models, tools, materials and equipment. Sometimes are lectures are given by one of the members or by a guest invited by the club. The meetings are open to all model builders, including those who are not members of the club.

4. Discounts in some model stores (according to the marketers' policy)

5.  Production of shirts and advertising material of the club  is an integral part of the club's activities for full utilization of the membership fee. The club's budget varies from year to year depending on the number of members and other factors such as varying costs of renting showrooms for conferences and exhibitions, varying costs of producing the magazine, and more, so the amount and type of "merchandise" that the club produces for its members is variable.

Payment of club membership fees entitles the club to receive services for a calendar year  Starting with a Hanukkah conference (held in December). This is despite the fact that technically the membership year begins on January 1, a few days after the annual conference. For example: The upcoming membership year (2023) begins at the Hanukkah conference in December 2022, and ends at the next Hanukkah conference in December 2023. As mentioned, membership fees are intended to cover club expenses only, and may vary slightly from year to year due to changes in membership and club expenses. For 2022, the membership fee is set at NIS 150 for an adult and NIS 50 for a young person up to the age of 21. A new member of the club receives upon joining the last two issues of "Scale" and a club membership card.

The success of the events and services provided by the club depends on the willingness of the members to be involved and help. For example, if members do not write enough articles on their own initiative, we will not be able to publish the "Scale" magazine, or the articles in it will be less varied. Similarly, exhibitions will be successful only if club members display their models. This is not a commercial business where the member "buys" services for the membership fee he pays.

We look forward to your joining!
